Hartswood Stars Away

In their final league match of the season, Ongar juniors were on the road to Thorndon Approach to face Hartswood Stars, a team they had beaten 2-0 at Love lane, but the Stars have had a good run since then.

Early on Hartswood stars dominated the game a took the lead 1-0, Ongar knocked the ball about in some good spells but playing down the hill they could not trouble the keeper. The Stars continued to apply pressure and near the end of the first half, knocked in a second, followed by a great shot from their No.9 hitting the crossbar. Ongar continued to play a some good football making some nice thought out passes.Second half and the Blues, gave a bit more and early on Lewis hit a great shot from a solo break away, but was equally matched by the hartswood No.1. Hartswood did score again soon after and also hit the post. but the blues kept on trying particularly Jacob who tried hard all game and soon it paid off with Lewis slotting the ball into the Hartswood net. Final Score 3-1

Well done all this season boys.

ONGAR B Team vs C Team Friendly

As the season nears its end there are a few fixtures still to be played. Ongar Juniors B and C teams both had no fixture so they got together for a friendly.
The C team started quite strong with a couple of good attacks and Ben the Kat had to pull off a save or two to keep the scores level.

The C team missed the chance to go ahead with a chance just going wide. The B team put together a few attacks and Ben F hit the C team woodwork from a freekick outside the box. The C's went one up soon after with a tap in after beating the ongar defence. Half time 1-0

Second Half was doninated by the B team with Nari and lewis repeatedly attacking but never quite getting through. The B team levelled the match with a great shot from James from outside the box. A few minutes later Lewis scored a very similar goal collecting the ball from a goal kick and putting it straight back in the net. Ben the 'Kat' sealed the win for the B team with a stunning save from a close range left footed shot from the C teams No. 9.

A Great game played with great spirit and very sporting by both side well done.

Captain:- Nari

B Team Man of the Match:- Ben H

Billericay Colts 13.4.08 Home

Today Ongar hosted Billericay colts a week after getting beaten 7-1 by them. Ongar expected a tough game. Billericay started strong and withing a few minutes went close with a shot that was well saved by Ben in the Ongar goal. Ongar tried to counter attack but were unable to get past the last defender, Billericay passed the ball well and half way through the first half scored a nice goal after beating the Ongar defence.
Billericay continued to pile on the presure but were unable to get that finish they so wanted. Half time 1-0. Second half Ongar bought on littlegunny and took off Kurtis. Once again Billericay tried to break down the defence of little gunny, and the two Bens. but were unable to. James played a great game in the centre off the park spoiling the attacks and breaking up the Billericay game, making him this weeks Coach's Man of the Match. Final Score.

Billericay Town Colts FC 6.4.08

Today saw Ongar Juniors travel to Billericay to face Billericay Town Colts. On arrival at the ground the snow was about 2 inches deep and a frantic attempt to clear the pitch was being made by the Billericay team. The game went ahead despite not really being playable and within a few minutes Billericay were one up.moving the ball around proved difficult for both teams but the colts seemed to cope better, making their second and third goal quick quickly. Ongar never gave up and just before the end of the first half Nari slotted the ball past the Billericay keeper. After a mass of changing wet gloves and hats and for ben the keeper jackets and tops too. the second half got under way. The game was more even than in the first half but then Billericay scored 4 more times to make the finishing score 7-1.
Very poor conditions but Billericay moved the ball around well and deserved the win. well done to all the boys and off home for a nice warm bath.

Ongar Man of the Match :- Ben H. could have easily given up but carried on till the end.

Captain:- Jacob .
