It was a nervous morning for the family and friends of the Ongar Juniors U10 'B' today as they knew if they won or drew they would win the title undefeated. Ongar started very strong and within the first few moments Nari could have put them 1-0 up. The pressure continued with great spells of passing by James, Lewis, Jacob and Nari - all four of them had equally impressive solo runs but, whatever the Blues tried, they just could not find the net. Half-time came without any score. Ongar came out in the second half determined to score and Lewis worked his socks off, up and down the left hand side. Jacob hit a beautiful shot early on in the half beating the keeper and rattling the goal frame. A few moments later Lewis picked up the ball outside the box, dropped his shoulder around a defender and struck a neat shot into the top right hand corner. Again, Ongar piled on the pressure and continued to shoot at goal and the Doddinghurst keeper prevented it being a bigger total. Nari knocked home Ongar's second and it looked like it could have been more. James in midfield along with young Filly and little Gunny were all solid in the back part of the field leaving Ben H little to do. Ongar changed the front three putting Kurtis, Reed and Henry on which played havoc with the Yellow's defence, all three of them passed the ball with ease and looked very comfortable.
When the final whistle came the Ongar duly greeted the Doddinghurst boys to the familiar rendition of three cheers before they celebrated in style.
