Away to Harold Court 29.3.09

Ongar Juniors travelled away to Harold court this week without the midfield dynamo of James and hard tackling Littlegunny, but a bright start saw Nari shooting wide in the first few moments of the game, but in true style Nari added his name to the score sheet with the early goal moments later. Harold court started to pass the ball when they could get it, but Ongar hit back with a crushing goal by young Filly, a cleanly hit shot from just on the halfway line beating the keeper and even Nari to the net. 2-0 at Half time.

Ongar pressed well in the second half with repeated shots from Lewis, Nari, Jacob, Reed and sub Henry. Lewis knocked home Ongar's third and Henry scored his second this season with a Gary Lineker styled goal line shot. The defence of Filly and Kurtis were again solid, yet another clean sheet. Well done boys.

Woodwork fest

Ongar Juniors were denied at least 3 goals today in their 1-0 win over Stones Athletic.
Ongar Started slowly and the stones front players attacked early on making Ben in the Ongar goal pull out a very brave save. James and Lewis had shots go wide, whilst Jacob hit the crossbar on the instruction of the Manager from a free kick outside the area. Ongar now started to pick up the pace against a much improved stones. Half time 0-0
Second half Ongar started stronger having much more of the ball and repeatedly attacking, Littlegunny shot just wide early on. Reed hit the post and James the crossbar but it seemed like it was going to be one of the days when we just couldnt score. The Ongar persistence paid off when James laid off a ball to the hungry Jacob who hit home great goal, the Ongar faithful went mad and there were reports of a Mexican wave taking place outside the club house but this has yet to be confirmed. Ongar Pressed for another but the game ended with Stones trying to make a comeback but the Ongar defence of Kurtis, Filly and Littlegunny held strong once again.

Well done to Stone. All all the boys on the pitch.
Captain:- Kurtis
Player of the Week :- Jacob, done exactly as he was asked.....

Home vs Brentwood Sports C 15.3.09

Ongar started the game in reverse gear today, but they remained solid at the back and started to warm up a bit as the first half wore on. Brentwood had a chance early in the first half but Ben in the Brentwood Goal was more than ready for it. Chances started to appear from Nari and Lewis but that final touch was proving to be difficult. four or five chances went unrewarded as the first half drew to a close, Reed was fighting hard to win the ball but we still couldn't score.Second half and Ongar came out strong and bombarded the Brentwood goal never really leaving their half of the pitch and once again shots by Nari and Lewis were very close but just not enough until in the 6th minute of the second half when Nari broke free beating the keeper with his shot but hitting the post and Lewis pounced on the rebound making it 1-0. Several more chances by James and Reed went very close, but Ongar had to settle with a close game but took the 3 points. Final Score 1-0
Brentwood deserved more out of the game.

Nari's Back and dont we know it.....

Great Danes B were probably the best team we had faced in the first half of the season and the only team to have put more than one goal past us in our 3-2 win at their place. Ongar were more than ready and with the welcome return of Nari with his first start this year, they started firing on all cylinders. Within the first minute Nari was through on goal and hit the post. Two minutes later and a similar break saw him slot the ball home in fine style. In the fifth minute the Great Danes Keeper made a fine save following a one on one with Nari. In the sixth minute Lewis only had to slot the ball home but was denied by a magnificent tackle by the Danes captain, but his time came when only a minute later, a great cross went straight to Lewis who tapped home. 2-0. Midway through the half Great Danes had their best chance following a free kick on the left side just outside the box, brilliantly struck by the No.6, but matched by a stunning save by Ben in the Ongar goal. The next goal came from defence as littlegunny knocked it forward to James he played it through to Lewis who lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box 3-0. Jacob didn't want to be left out and a minute before the break took a great pass from Lewis and drove home a low shot into the great Danes goal. half time 4-0.
Second half and Nari was revved up and again within a minute was on the score sheet driving home a shot from the edge of the box. Filly decided to rest James, Nari and Kurt after all playing really well for the first half and bought on Ben F, Reid and Henry. This unsettled the blues a little and whilst still trying to reorganise the whites knocked in a goal. Ongar settled down and for most part were attacking the Great Danes goal going close a few times. Reid's dedication paid off when he was able to knock in a close range shot after a bit of a scramble in the area. Two minutes before the end and littlegunny turned inside the No.4 striking a left footed shot that hit the keepers leg and went wide of the post.

Great Danes had a late surge and the No. 11 was on his own toward the Ongar goal with only the keeper to beat. Brave Ben, today's captain, threw himself at the ball and the feet of the Danes striker and prevented them scoring again.

Great All round performance by all on the pitch.

Player of the Week:- Lewis for great awareness and great passing.

Rematch no match

March the 1st. Spring in the air? For the first 10 minutes the lads were far from fresh. Following last weeks win against the same opposition, it was Inter who started the brightest, the Ongar defence being put on the back foot resulting with the home keeper making an early save. This spurred the home side into action, good passing and urgency resulting in Gunny about to pull the trigger only to be upended whilst in on goal. This allowed Lewis to smash home the penalty, relax the team and enable them to play their passing game. With more good movement and distribution, the lively Gunny then fired home from 8 yards via a ricochet off a defender sending a certain WPC into a frenzy! Ongar were now playing with confidence, James running the midfield, Filly and Curtis dominant, and Lewis lively and tricky, a third goal came after good passing enabling Lewis to slot home his 2nd and Ongar's 3rd.
After half time a few changes were made allowing gaffer Filly to give Nari his long awaited return, sending the Ongar faithful into a round of applause. Jacob and Henry also joined the fray, immediately making the game safe when Jacob drove home after a brilliant move. Inter never gave up and was optimised by Freddie the no 3 who forced a great save out of the Ongar keeper low down. After starting a fine move, James then finished it off with a rifled shot into the top corner completing an excellent performance from the lads but also earning him the Player of the week award.
Final Score Ongar Juniors U10's 5 - 0 Intersport B U10's
