Bentley Boys

Year 4 at Bentley St Pauls School played their first ever football matches against Chipping Ongar school. The Games were played at Ongar School and as soon as the games kicked off the rain came down. The first of the two Friendlies was against a side with a few year 3 players in the Ongar team. Bentley knocked the ball around well and 2 goals from Mitchell P and goals from William E and Christopher J sealed the 4-0 win.

After a short break Ongar bought out the big guns and gave Bentley a much better contest, halftime came an the game was even. Bentley piled on the presure and hit the woodwork and a few minutes before the end Christopher J tucked away the winner.

Intersports A 9.3.08 (Home)

This week saw Ongar Juniors face Intersports 'A' at Love Lane, Ongar started quite strong with some good attacks and looked to be thretening the Intersports goal. Kurtis and Ben F were strong across the back. The game continued and Intersport took the lead half way through the first half with a good solid strike.Half Time 0-1 after a rather uneventfull half.
Second half started with Ongar attacking well once again, but now with Jacob introduced up front with Owen dropping back into defence along side Kurtis, who today didn't put a foot wrong. Intersports stole a second goal from a scrambled goalmouth mess, halfway thgrough the second half.
Overall a quite match with no real highpoints.
Captain :-Kurtis
Man of the Match :-Kurtis

Brentwood Sports A 2.3.2008

Today's encounter was against Brentwood Sports A. This team had beaten Ongar 6-2 on the first game of the season and the Blues were determined not to have a repeat of that.
The game started fairly evenly with the Brentwood team attacking and being met with a strong Ongar defence. Eventually they broke through and went 0-1 up. The Ongar team kept their cool and continued with a couple of breaks from Lewis eventually leading to a great solo goal.
At 1-1 the Dark Blues kept on the pressure and following a couple of mix ups at the back lead to a scrappy goal being conceded by Ongar 1-2. Ben H yet again prevented the Juniors going further behind pulling off some great saves from some impressive shots.
Second half started and was a bit slow, changes to the Ongar Team, replacing Lewis and Kurtis with Nari and Jacob, seemed to lift the Ongar team which lead to them having a succession of attacks from Nari and Jacob, but never really bothering the Brentwood Keeper. Brentwood went 1-3 up and very nearly got four but were prevented by the sheer skill of The "Cat" in the Ongar goal, and for this he deserves the Man of the Match title yet again. Well done Ben. Overall the Ongar team didn't have a bad game but the Brentwood Sports team put away their chances. An improvement by the Ongar Juniors.
Captain :- Owen
Man of the Match:- Ben H
